On June 21, 2025, the 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated at the Pusa Campus in New Delhi. Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, led a mass yoga event. He urged everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily lives. Chouhan stressed that yoga is not just a one-day activity. It should be a regular practice for better health and happiness.

During the event, the Minister shared his personal experience with yoga. In 1998, he suffered severe injuries in an accident. At that time, he could hardly walk. However, yoga played a key role in his recovery. Now, he leads a healthy life free from those injuries. This is a testament to the transformative power of yoga.

Chouhan called for yoga to be embraced wholeheartedly. He stated that good health is essential for productive agriculture. When farmers are healthy, they can work effectively. He noted that many yoga postures can help with the physical demands of farming.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from various groups. Officials from the Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development joined farmers and scientists. The presence of ‘Lakhpati Didis’, women entrepreneurs from self-help groups, showed the widespread commitment to yoga. These women are making significant changes in their communities. They manage both work and family responsibilities. Regular yoga practice can benefit them greatly.

The Minister also highlighted the importance of proper guidance while practicing yoga. He advised that yoga postures should be performed under the supervision of trained instructors. This ensures safety and effectiveness. Chouhan discussed the power of pranayama, which is breath regulation. Mastering pranayama can lead to remarkable health benefits.

He reminded everyone that the first wealth is a healthy body. Without good health, achieving success in life becomes difficult. This aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘Fit India’. Chouhan urged everyone to treat their bodies with respect, like a temple. An unhealthy body will not support worldly or spiritual goals.

In his closing remarks, Chouhan introduced a simple wellness formula. He suggested the ’20-20-20′ model for daily life. This means spending 20 minutes on yoga postures, 20 minutes on pranayama, and 20 minutes planning your day. By setting daily goals and reflecting on them each evening, individuals can lead more purposeful lives.

The theme for this year’s Yoga Day was “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” This theme emphasizes the connection between individual health and the health of our planet. Chouhan’s message encourages unity in adopting yoga as a way of life. It is a call to action for everyone to embrace yoga, not just on one day, but every day.

As the event concluded, the atmosphere was one of joy and commitment to wellness. With leaders and citizens practicing yoga together, it highlighted the importance of community in promoting health. The message was clear: let yoga be a part of our daily lives for a healthier and happier future.
