This week, many parts of India will experience heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather update predicting significant weather activity across various regions. Some areas will welcome relief from heat, while others will face heatwaves and dust storms. Odisha and West Bengal are likely to experience heatwave conditions, and isolated dust storms may occur in Rajasthan.
The northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, are expected to receive heavy rainfall, particularly on June 4. This continuous rain is likely to keep temperatures pleasant in these areas; however, waterlogging and localized flooding may occur in vulnerable regions.
In northwest India, a western disturbance combined with multiple cyclonic circulations will impact states like Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Rain and thunderstorms will occur in these areas, with significant weather activity expected, especially on June 4.
Light to moderate rainfall, along with strong winds and thunderstorms, will also be seen in Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha. Farmers and travelers should remain cautious during this time.
Kerala and Coastal Karnataka will witness moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms likely on June 4. Parts of Telangana, Interior Karnataka, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh will also see similar weather conditions. The IMD predicts that maximum temperatures in Northwest India will drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next two days, followed by a sharp rise of 4 to 5 degrees Celsius in the subsequent days.
In Eastern India, temperatures will gradually rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. However, no major changes are expected elsewhere.
In Delhi, residents can expect cloudy skies, brief rain spells, and gusty winds over the next four days. The temperatures will remain below normal, providing some relief from the usual early June heat. Delhi-NCR will see cooler-than-normal days with occasional evening thunderstorms that may disrupt commutes but also bring relief from the heat.
The IMD advises precautions, especially for farmers and coastal residents in the south. Residents in heat-affected regions like Odisha and Bengal should stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.
