On June 17, 2025, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region (ICAR-RCER) in Patna. His visit aimed to review the institute’s research efforts to transform agriculture in Eastern India. Chouhan emphasised the need for lab-to-farm research to help farmers. He is committed to the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’, which aims to develop India into a prosperous nation by 2047.
During his visit, Chouhan was accompanied by Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha. They were joined by senior officials from both the central and state governments. The visit began with a tree plantation ceremony at the ICAR-RCER campus. This event symbolised a commitment to sustainable agriculture.
Dr. Ashutosh Upadhyaya, Acting Director of ICAR-RCER, presented the institute’s achievements and ongoing initiatives. The Minister highlighted the role of ICAR and its Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) in the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA).
