The Maharashtra FYJC Admission process for 2025 is in full swing. The Round 1 registration window closed today, June 5, 2025, at 2 PM. Students who have registered can soon check the provisional merit list on the official website, mahafyjcadmissions.in. This year, a total of 10,85,851 students have applied for First-Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions, competing for over 20.43 lakh seats across 9,281 junior colleges in Maharashtra.
The provisional merit list will be available for students to review and raise objections from June 6 to June 7. After this, a final merit list will be published on June 8. It is important for students to check their names on the list, as this will determine their eligibility for college admission.
To view the merit list, students should follow these steps:
1. Visit the official website: mahafyjcadmissions.in.
2. Click on the “Student Zone” or respective regional link.
3. Log in using your application number and password.
4. Navigate to the “FYJC Merit List 2025” section.
5. Search for your name, application number, or roll number.
6. Download or save the merit list for future reference.
This year marks the first time that the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) is being implemented across Maharashtra. This process allows students from any region to apply to junior colleges throughout the state using a single online platform. The CAP covers eight divisions: Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Kolhapur, Amravati, Latur, and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. However, the Konkan division is not included in this process.
After the merit list is released, candidates must verify their documents online. They also need to pay the admission fee and submit undertaking forms. For students with a quota, a zero round for quota-based admissions will occur from June 9 to June 11. The first college allotment list is set to be released on June 10, with document submission and admission confirmation scheduled from June 11 to June 18.
The admission process aims to improve accessibility. The official portal was briefly taken offline to enhance mobile compatibility, ensuring a smoother experience for students. Furthermore, a dedicated helpline number and email ID have been introduced to assist with CAP-related queries.
In-house quota admissions are available only to students from schools run by the same management. This is a new guideline for class 11 admissions by the State Directorate of Education. Students who have passed their 10th grade from a secondary school that shares premises with a junior college that is managed by the same authority are eligible for this quota.
The first provisional merit list will be published today, June 5, at 4:30 PM. Students are encouraged to check the list promptly and raise any objections if necessary. Technical difficulties have been reported by some students during the registration process, but the Maharashtra School Education Board has assured that all issues will be resolved before the final merit list is published.
