The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for widespread rainfall across India. This is due to multiple weather systems that are causing intense monsoon activity. Heavy to extremely heavy showers are expected in states like Gujarat, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and parts of North and South India through July 1.

The IMD has provided a Long-Range Forecast for the 2025 Southwest Monsoon season, which runs from June to September. According to this forecast, seasonal rainfall across the country is likely to be 106% of the Long Period Average (LPA). This indicates a high probability of above-normal rainfall during the monsoon season.

Regionally, Central India and the South Peninsular region are expected to receive above-normal rainfall. Meanwhile, Northwest India may see normal rainfall levels, which range between 92-108% of the LPA. In contrast, Northeast India is likely to experience below-normal rainfall, which is less than 94% of the LPA.

The Monsoon Core Zone (MCZ), covering much of India’s rainfed agricultural land, is forecasted to receive above-normal rainfall. This is a positive sign for farmers as it provides a favorable outlook for the Kharif cropping season. From June to September, most regions of the country are expected to have normal to above-normal rainfall. However, parts of Northwest and East India, as well as many areas in Northeast India, may witness below-normal rainfall.

Specifically for June 2025, rainfall across the country is projected to be above normal, exceeding 108% of the LPA. While most areas are likely to receive normal to above-normal rainfall, certain southern parts of the Peninsular region, along with parts of Northwest and Northeast India, are expected to have below-normal rainfall.

On the temperature front, normal to below-normal maximum temperatures are expected across much of India in June 2025. However, above-normal maximum temperatures are forecasted for many areas in Northwest and Northeast India. Minimum temperatures are likely to remain above normal across most of the country, except in some regions of Central India and the adjoining southern Peninsula, which may experience normal to below-normal minimum temperatures.

The IMD will continue to monitor and update its forecasts. This is crucial for supporting planning in agriculture, water resource management, and disaster preparedness.

Farmers and those involved in agriculture should stay informed about these weather updates. This information can help them make better decisions regarding planting and harvesting crops. It is especially important during the Kharif season when rainfall plays a vital role in crop yield.

For further updates, farmers are encouraged to check the official IMD website regularly. This will help them stay prepared for any changes in weather patterns and adjust their farming practices accordingly.

In conclusion, the monsoon season is crucial for Indian agriculture. The expected rainfall could lead to healthy crops, but farmers should remain vigilant and informed. By understanding weather patterns and forecasts, they can ensure better yields and contribute to food security in the country.
