The Uttar Pradesh government has launched a new initiative called the ‘Mukhyamantri Swadeshi Gau Sanvardhan Yojana’. This scheme aims to boost milk production and create more jobs in rural areas. It is part of a larger plan known as the ‘Nand Baba Dudh Mission’.
The main goal of this scheme is to provide financial support to cattle farmers. It encourages them to purchase high-quality indigenous breed cows from other regions. This will help improve the local cattle population and, in turn, increase the amount of milk produced.
Under the ‘Mukhyamantri Swadeshi Gau Sanvardhan Yojana’, the UP government will offer a subsidy to eligible individuals. Each farmer can receive up to 40% of the total cost for buying two cows. There is also a maximum subsidy limit of ₹80,000 per person. This financial aid is intended to make it easier for farmers to invest in better quality cattle.
The subsidy amount will be directly transferred to the farmer’s bank account. This will be done within one month of the application approval using the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. This ensures transparency and quick disbursement of funds.
The scheme is expected to have a significant positive impact on rural economies. By increasing milk production, farmers can earn a better income from animal husbandry. This can lead to improved livelihoods and economic development in villages.
There is a condition attached to the subsidy. If a farmer sells or transfers the cows purchased under this scheme within a period of three years, the subsidy amount will be recovered by the District Committee. This rule is in place to ensure that the cows are kept for dairy farming purposes and contribute to the scheme’s objectives for a reasonable duration.
The ‘Mukhyamantri Swadeshi Gau Sanvardhan Yojana’ is being implemented across all districts of Uttar Pradesh.
