Farmer Dies After Urea Stampede in Nalgonda

A tragic incident has occurred in Nalgonda, Telangana, where a tribal woman farmer has died following a leg injury sustained in a urea stampede. Paathulothu Dassi, aged 55, from Gonyathanda village, passed away on Friday. The incident happened five days ago when farmers were gathered at the village Rythu Vedika to get urea. The demand for urea was high, and the crowd became unruly. In the commotion, Dassi fell and fractured her leg. She was first taken to a private hospital in Miryalaguda. Later, her condition worsened, and she was moved to a hospital in Nalgonda. Sadly, she developed serious health complications and could not be saved. Her funeral is scheduled to take place in her village on Saturday morning. Local leaders from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party have expressed their condolences. They have also blamed the government for the shortage of urea and the chaotic situation, demanding that those responsible be held accountable. Some BRS leaders had visited Dassi in the hospital to offer their support. This incident highlights the difficulties farmers are facing in accessing essential agricultural inputs. The stampede shows the desperation and anxiety among farmers due to scarcity. The government’s role in managing the supply of fertilisers like urea is being questioned. Ensuring timely and adequate availability of fertilisers is crucial for farmers to carry out their agricultural activities effectively. Such incidents can have devastating consequences for farming families. It is important for authorities to address the root causes of such shortages and implement better crowd management strategies during peak demand periods. The well-being of farmers should be a top priority, and measures must be taken to prevent such unfortunate events in the future. The agricultural sector relies heavily on the hard work of farmers, and their safety and support should be paramount.
